Biography

Luke is a partner who helps investors, operators, and other market participants do business in the European real estate markets. He represents a wide variety of clients, including some of the world’s largest private equity real estate firms, developers, and asset managers.

He brings more than 20 years of experience advising on a wide range of transactions, including M&A deals (involving real assets, real estate–intensive businesses, or operating platforms), joint ventures, club deals, development work, restructurings, and fund formation. His transactional experience covers all the major real sectors, including hotels, office, logistics, retail, life sciences, student accommodation, and residential. He has acted on deals in most European jurisdictions.

His prior experience includes spending time as an in–house lawyer (including within a private equity real estate investor) as well as significant time as a transactional lawyer in Singapore and Tokyo.

Advised The Nature Conservancy in respect of the Wendling Beck Environment Project, an exemplar environmental project structured as a collaboration between private landowners, environmental charities and local authorities to transform land use for environmental benefit, including through the Biodiversity Net Gain framework.

A life sciences operator on its acquisition and restructuring of a life science incubator and asset management business.

A European investor and developer on its joint venture with a UK development manager for the acquisition and development of a high-end residential site in London W1.

A US private equity fund on its acquisition and asset management arrangements in respect of a large office campus near Paris.

A US hedge fund on its acquisition and development arrangements with a local operator in respect of the development of two luxury Italian hotels.

A hedge fund in respect of its proposed acquisition and investments in a real estate lending platform as well as a portfolio of loan assets.

A joint venture between a US private equity fund and a European real estate company on the disposal of a portfolio of UK business parks.
