Biography
Michael Geier is counsel in the firm's Technology & IP Disputes Practice Group and advises national and international companies on all intellectual property matters.
As former head of the patent unit of a major research centre, he has extensive experience in the field of patents and licenses. In particular, he advises on issues relating to inventions, other technical innovations and know-how as well as their legal protection and enforcement. He also focuses on drafting contracts for the development and exploitation of intellectual property, including research cooperations, the handling of employee inventions as well as on providing IP/IT advice in connection with corporate transactions. Furthermore, Michael supports our clients in trademark applications, opposition and cancellation proceedings as well as with coexistence agreements. In addition to his focus on intellectual property rights, he regularly deals with issues in the areas of data protection, software licensing and e-commerce.
Before joining BCLP, he headed the patents and licenses group of a Helmholtz research centre for many years and previously worked for an international business law firm in the IP/IT area.
