Biography
Jennifer L. Berhorst is a partner in the firm’s Kansas City office. She is a litigator with experience representing corporate clients in a wide range of complex commercial and employment disputes. Her litigation experience includes defending against claims of employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wage and hour violations, whistleblowing, restrictive covenant violations/enforcement (non-competes and non-solicits) and trade secret misappropriation, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, financial services litigation (including commercial and residential foreclosure), business contract disputes and fraud. Jennifer has an active trial practice, has appeared and argued in state and federal courts, and has significant appellate experience including argument before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has also developed substantial experience in obtaining injunctive relief and defending against such requests (including temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions). In addition to her litigation practice, Jennifer regularly advises and counsels clients on various day-to-day labor and employment matters.
Jennifer is also recognized for her pro bono work, including having prosecuted cases under the Hague Convention and successfully returned abducted children to their country of residency, obtained favorable immigration status for victims of human trafficking, and successfully represented numerous clients in obtaining guardianship of minors under their care.
Jennifer has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers (2015-2022) and was selected as a member of Ingram’s Magazine’s 40 Under Forty (2019).
