Biography

Christian is a Partner and US Lead of the Global Data Privacy and Security Practice, with more than a decade of experience guiding clients through the evolving landscape of data privacy, breach response, data governance and AI.

Known for his nuanced and pragmatic approach, Christian serves clients across a broad array of industries, including the health care, insurance, financial services, retail, and consumer sectors. He advises health care companies (providers and payors), insurance carriers and brokers, banks, financial institutions, financial exchanges, and retail companies, among others, on the multifaceted challenges of data management, compliance and protection, including cutting-edge issues like deidentification strategies and AI training.

Christian’s expertise spans domestic and international privacy law, including HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, state omnibus privacy laws, COPPA, GDPR, and others. His advisory focus is on complex multi-national organizations, often dealing with overlapping regulatory regimes, where he provides strategic, tailored guidance. Christian’s practice extends to international advisory work for entities located in the Middle East, which enables his clients to benefit from his multi-jurisdictional practice.

Christian also frequently counsels clients on data security and cybersecurity, drawing from his background in litigation. His work includes incident response and remediation, regulatory investigations, and proactive breach preparedness planning. Christian leads the response to dozens of security incidents each year, and acts as appointed breach coach for multiple large, multi-national entities.

Christian is a sought-after speaker on cutting-edge data privacy and security issues, frequently presenting at industry events and contributing thought leadership pieces to publications like Fortune Magazine and other notable periodicals.
