Vanessa Sunshine is a partner in BCLP’s California offices and is the practice group leader for Real Estate Finance US. Vanessa has experience in the acquisition, disposition, and financing of virtually every asset class including multifamily, retail centers, office and industrial buildings, and business parks. Vanessa also has niche experience with the unique needs of certain assets like senior living facilities and golf courses. In addition, Vanessa has a strong background in leasing on behalf of both landlords and tenants with respect to a variety of uses, including ground leases. REITS, private equity funds, developers and other clients call Vanessa when they need someone they can count on to peek around corners and protect their interests.

In addition, Vanessa regularly represents banks, debt and preferred equity funds, and other lenders with respect to enforcement strategies and/or workouts of non-performing commercial real estate loans (forbearances, discounted payoffs, deeds-in-lieu, note sales, receiverships, foreclosures, and the exercise of other secured creditor remedies), and REO sales.

Vanessa has a strong passion for building and maintaining relationships with her clients, especially when it comes to their business. Vanessa prides herself on being responsive, thoughtful and available, and clients value her soft-touch approach, especially at the negotiating table, where actively listening, coming up with creative solutions, and fostering strong working relationships- including with the opposing side- helps them achieve their desired result.

Outside of her legal practice, Vanessa created the first-year associate training program for the real estate group and helps facilitate the US-wide real estate and real estate finance training program.
