David J. Root
Biography
David has experience representing businesses and individuals in domestic and international disputes across multiple practice areas. He has successfully disposed of numerous lawsuits at the pleading stage and on summary judgment, and has achieved favorable settlements for his clients.
One focus of David’s practice is consumer financial services litigation. He has defended financial institutions in a variety of cases, including matters alleging wrongful foreclosure, violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act, and state unfair and deceptive acts or practices statutes and other consumer lending statutes and regulations.
Prior to joining the firm, David handled various claims asserted by businesses and individuals, including allegations of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, RICO, and unfair competition, as well as handled matters involving government investigations and enforcement proceedings.
During law school, David worked as a law clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division, in the Central District of California and as a judicial extern at the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California.
