Biography

Chris LaRocco counsels clients regarding litigation and dispute resolution in an array of legal subject areas including corporate transactions, securities, commercial leasing and consumer financial services. Mr. LaRocco has experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including oral and written advocacy before state and federal courts, e-discovery management in complex litigation, witness preparation, legal research, and the achievement of client-focused results through negotiation, mediation and arbitration.

Experience

  • Represented retail clients in defense of threatened class action claims under the New Jersey Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty, and Notice Act.
  • Represented a corporation seeking the approval of a settlement of federal class and derivative actions relating to alleged fraudulent accounting and other financial fraud by its former CEO.
  • Represented corporate boards and special committees in defending shareholder litigation arising from merger transactions.
  • Represented clients, including a national Medicaid HMO and a prominent biotechnology company, in connection with disputes over the implementation of merger and acquisition agreements, including claims of breach of warranty and material adverse effect.
  • Represented asset management company against breach of contract and misappropriation of confidential information claims asserted by potential acquisition target.
  • Represented a designer and manufacturer of fashion apparel at trial in successfully establishing its right to a 50% abatement in rent under a significant mid-town Manhattan commercial lease.
  • Represented an international provider of serviced office accommodations in significant commercial landlord-tenant disputes, as well as actions involving allegations of breach of contract, defamation, tortious interference, and statutory consumer fraud claims.
  • Represented one of the world’s largest hotel companies in litigations related to, among other things, construction and licensing issues and in connection with employment disputes.
  • Represented banking clients in numerous actions related to consumer financial transactions in both state and federal courts. These engagements included the favorable resolution of claims brought by parties challenging the existence of liens and asserting allegations ranging from breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence to a variety of claims under state and federal statutes, such as TILA, HOEPA, RESPA, FDCPA, FCRA, and ECOA.
