As the practice has grown in Southern Illinois, so has the breadth of our representation of clients in Southern Illinois. In addition to the firm’s substantial litigation practice and with over 100 attorneys licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, our ability to represent clients in Southern Illinois has evolved to include business transactions, banking, real estate, creditor’s rights, bankruptcy, estate planning, tax controversy and advice, and corporate structuring. Our attorneys have substantial experience with representation of public and privately held companies, municipalities, public-private partnerships. Our experience includes public incentives for economic development both in representing Illinois municipal governments as well as individuals and companies seeking these incentives. Members of our Private Client Group provide sophisticated personal estate planning and tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, and related legal services for high net worth families and individual clients.

The Southern Illinois office initially was established to support clients with litigation matters in Madison and St. Clair Counties, Illinois. Our attorneys have substantial experience navigating the dangerous jurisdictions in Southern Illinois, and have handled many significant class actions, product liability cases and commercial cases in these venues. Several of the firm's senior trial attorneys have significant experience arguing cases at both the trial court and appellate levels in Southern Illinois, and BCLP is a leader in class action issues, including multi-district treatment of class actions at the federal court level, reform of class action laws and recent cases strictly enforcing certification rules and limiting use of large multi-state classes. Class actions often present special discovery and case management problems. Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner's lawyers have an outstanding track record in managing large-scale discovery and building a solid foundation for trial or settlement. The firm’s strong commitment to litigation support technology enables its staff to manage literally millions of documents in the most effective way possible. Our attorneys and paralegals use data management systems to gain instant access to large document collections and discovery, and routinely communicate and exchange documents with clients electronically via secure encrypted e-mail systems. This technology gives us – and our clients – an edge in defending these complex cases and the security of having control of the issues.

Nothing speaks more clearly of the breadth and depth of our experience in Southern Illinois than the success of our clients in the court room and in the board room. Cases with which we have had the privilege to be involved in Southern Illinois include, among others, consumer goods and services, financial and securities, banking litigation and lender liability, manufacturing, employment, competition law, and probate actions. Transactions include multinational mergers and acquisitions, real estate development, governmental projects including large infrastructure projects, real estate development, manufacturing and distribution systems and logistics, corporate governance, complex estate and tax planning and employment negotiations.

Our attorneys have a strong reputation in the areas of litigation, real estate, and corporate law. Leading publications and publishers, such as Chambers USA and SuperLawyers, and legal media consistently rank BCLP's lawyers as leaders in these and other practice areas. Our attorneys and staff have a strong commitment to the community in which they live and work, and are very proud of the firm's legacy of support. We are active members of the Southern Illinois community. As part of the firm’s continued support of pro bono work, we have represented many not-for-profit clients, churches, nonprofit sports and charitable organizations, community organizations and religious organizations throughout Southern Illinois.

Meetings with lawyers at the Southern Illinois office are available by appointment only.
