BCLP Partner Lindsay Wuller Aggarwal authored a piece for Law.com detailing the inspiration and creation of the firm’s first Parental Leave Coaching Program, which launched in May 2024.

The confidential program offers U.S. lawyers personalized support before, during, and after parental leave, including one-on-one coaching and peer support groups. Developed alongside the firm’s newly extended 20-week parental leave policy, the program is designed to help lawyers balance the challenges of managing professional and personal responsibilities during a critical life transition.

In her heartfelt and poignant piece, Lindsay reflected on her postpartum experience and the complexities of journeying through parental leave, which later shaped her vision for the program. “As part of my role, I have received training from the world’s largest coach training organization. But perhaps more important is the simple fact that I’ve been there before,” she wrote. Reflecting on the importance of firm culture, Lindsay said, “I think we as a firm have an obligation to figure out the best way to empower our people to support them through the time period [of transitioning from parental leave back to work] and give them the support they need so they can reengage. Your career is a long career. It can ebb and flow. I think it’s really important to work with our lawyers to equip them to balance this transition as best they can.”

“At the end of the day, I designed the parental leave coaching program to be the program I wish had been in existence when I was struggling,” she said, underscoring the deeply personal nature of her work. Lindsay expressed excitement about the program’s early impact, writing, “Although it is impossible to know how the trajectory of my story may have changed had a resource like this been in place back then, it’s also impossible to ignore the impact that the program has had in the few short months since its launch. And I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
