Partner and Co-Global Practice Group Leader – Business and Commercial Disputes Graham Shear, Senior Associate Andrew Street, and Associate Alec Brown authored an article for LawInSport, first published 9 July , on the ongoing European Super League (ESL) story. They explore the financial drivers behind Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus F.C. continuing with the ESL, some recent developments, the powers of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Union of European Football (UEFA) to impose sanctions, the regulatory tightrope that any sanctioning body will walk.

Shear, Street and Brown conclude that, “The road ahead… will become clearer once UEFA’s initial investigation has concluded, should it reach that point given the Courts’ involvement. It will be interesting to observe how these broad challenges are managed, as well as the reaction of an already disconcerted fan base.”
