Partner Edward Coulson and Senior Associate Rachel Ziegler have written for Law360, first published 4 August, on the rise of group actions in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. With cases emerging in areas as diverse as competition, environment, data privacy and securities, it is set to be a busy few years in the class action arena. Coulson and Ziegler explore some of the recent cases and developing trends, concluding that “these developments indicate a gradual but definite shift in the attitude of the English courts to the prospect of group litigation, justified or not, and an accompanying shift in the nature of corporate liability.”
