Real Estate Practice continues growth with new structured debt partner in London
Sep 07, 2022International law firm BCLP continues the growth of its global Real Estate Practice with the hire of real estate structured debt Partner Will Trotman, who joins from Linklaters. Will joins the Real Estate Finance (REF) Team and will be based in London, though working with clients and colleagues across the UK, EMEA and the US.
Will is a leading structured finance and securitization lawyer focusing on structured and asset-backed finance. He has considerable experience in residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), warehouse facilities, trade receivables and supply chain finance acting for arrangers, lead managers, asset-backed lenders (both senior and mezzanine/junior), investors, guarantors and originators. He also has advised on infrastructure and utilities financing.
In joining BCLP’s market-leading REF practice, Will’s focus will be on real estate structured debt products. Being within the REF team, his appointment means the firm will have one of the only truly integrated one-stop solutions for clients originating REF deals and structuring off balance sheet outcomes from those loans. This can now be done within the same BCLP team, as part of one delivery model for clients.
This appointment represents a major steppingstone in the development of the BCLP REF business and underlines its position as the leading REF team in the city. Further, it builds and strengthens the overall Real Estate Sector Team in the UK to meet the growing demands from clients and follows the recent hire of three Real Estate partners in Germany.
Will is recognized in Chambers and Partners UK 2022 as an “up and coming” securitization lawyer and also in Legal 500 UK 2022 as a “key lawyer.”
“We’re continuing to invest heavily in our people and are delighted to welcome Will to the team where his experience will bring value to both the team and our clients, particularly in the structured real estate finance space,” said UK Head of Real Estate Samant Narula.
“We are really excited to welcome Will to this team. This is a huge step for our market-leading real estate finance team who, in response to client demand, will be among the first to integrate a REF team with a real estate-focused structured debt team,” said UK Head of Real Estate Finance Naveen Vijh. “This will enable us to provide one of the most holistic real estate finance services in the market today.”
