International law firm BCLP today welcomed James Brescoll back to the firm. Previously with BCLP from 2018-2021, Jim rejoined the firm as a partner in the Chicago office.

Jim joins from Riemer & Braunstein, where he maintained an active practice focused on commercial real estate. Jim has particular experience in real estate financing, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development, joint ventures and construction matters, locally and throughout the United States. He also advises clients and deal teams on real estate matters in connection with corporate mergers and acquisitions. Jim represents a wide variety of clients, including financial institutions, REITs, real estate funds, banks and developers.

In the area of real estate finance, Jim represents both lenders and borrowers with structured finance transactions, including single-asset and multi-property or multistate mortgage loans and mezzanine loan transactions, as well as takeout financing, and construction loans. He also represents lenders with loan workout and restructuring matters, remedies enforcement and assumptions.

“I’m excited to be back at BCLP, particularly at a point where the firm is growing and leveraging its global Real Estate Practice in new and exciting ways,” Jim said. “My colleagues at BCLP are some of the best in the business, and I’m glad to be back with them.”

Jim is often featured in legal directories for his real estate practice, and was named by Best Lawyers to its 2022 “Ones to Watch” list.

“We’re excited to have Jim back with our global Real Estate Practice,” said Regional Practice Group Leader-Real Estate (US) Andrew Auerbach. “His experience and history with the firm will benefit clients firmwide. We are very happy to welcome him back to the firm.”
