BCLP Partner Chris Schmidt was quoted Dec. 17 by Law360 concerning a bombshell report alleging Washington Football Team owner Dan Snyder and his lawyers thwarted a sexual misconduct investigation. "It is important to carefully follow the evidence wherever it leads you, and it may not lead you to where you think it will go," said Chris. "Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. But it is really hard to judge this investigation in a vacuum because so much of it has been hidden from the eye of the public." Chris noted the allegations in the report also showcase a gray area for counsel representing the subjects of internal investigations like Snyder. The NFL missed a deadline last month to share details requested by congressional committees but has promised it is cooperating with the inquiry. While the league is not legally obligated to release the full report, at least publicly, Chris also noted it is "curious" that more findings have not been shared given the high-profile nature and serious subject matter of the investigation.  While the league is not legally obligated to release the full report, at least publicly, Schmidt said it is "curious" that more findings have not been shared given the high-profile nature and serious subject matter of the investigation.
