Nov 14, 2024International law firm BCLP announced today the addition of Partner Matt Sides to the firm’s Energy, Environment, and Infrastructure practice group and our Energy Transition Sector — a priority sector for the firm. Matt joins the firm’s Charlotte office.
Matt focuses his practice on advising lenders, tax equity investors, and sponsors on the financing, acquisition, development, and construction of energy projects— including negotiating tax equity partnerships and lease investment structures. Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as Counsel at Troutman Pepper, where he played a key role in numerous high-profile energy projects.
“Matt’s deep understanding of renewable energy and infrastructure financing, coupled with his practical, deal-oriented approach, makes him a valuable addition to our team,” said Peter Hansen, Global Co- Leader of the Energy Transition Sector. “His experience will further enhance our capabilities, particularly as the demand for renewable energy projects continues to grow.”
Before transitioning to law, Matt built a strong foundation in banking, where he focused on underwriting, origination, and managing large credit facilities. Leveraging this distinctive business-minded approach to the legal landscape, Matt helps clients effectively navigate the financial and legal complexities of energy projects, delivering practical, well-rounded solutions that address both commercial and regulatory challenges.
“We are excited to have Matt on board,” added Bryan Keyt, Global Practice Group Leader – Energy, Environment and Infrastructure. “His blend of legal and financial experience, combined with his broad knowledge in energy infrastructure and renewable projects, uniquely positions him to help our clients address both immediate and long-term challenges in this evolving sector.”
Matt is the 22nd partner to join the firm since the start of 2024, as the firm remains focused on delivering on our strategic priorities by pursuing growth opportunities and adding scale and strength in locations and practices where there is a high concentration of clients and strong demand for our services.
