Four from BCLP recognized by ‘Missouri Lawyers Weekly’ as top intellectual property lawyers

BCLP Partners Matthew Minder and David Roodman, Senior Trial Counsel Ben Clark and Counsel Lindsay Cohen Schneider are among Missouri’s “Power List” intellectual property lawyers, as named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.

“We look at practitioners who pursue or defend against claims involving patent applications and infringement, licenses, trademarks and trade secrets, copyrights and unfair competition. They often litigate in state and federal court and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and a number of these attorneys are themselves inventors and patent holders,” Missouri Lawyers Weekly stated.

Matt's practice encompasses all aspects of the adoption, prosecution, enforcement, and exploitation of trademarks and copyrights. A large part of his practice focuses on advising clients on the selection and availability of trademarks and service marks, and in registering those marks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Matt also advises clients, working with foreign counsel where necessary, on global brand protection and enforcement. In addition to his extensive trademark portfolio practice, Matt represents clients in federal and state court in cases involving claims of trademark. Matt also routinely handles various aspects of commercial and other transactional matters involving intellectual property, including trademark licenses, software and other intellectual property development agreements, technology consulting agreements, and intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

David focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, appeals, transactions, licensing, counseling, opinions and protection including matters relating to patents, trademarks, service marks, trade dress, dilution, copyrights, trade secrets, e-commerce, entertainment, unfair competition, false advertising, domain name disputes and technology-related matters. He is a former leader of the Intellectual Property Client Service Group – a position he held for nine years. David has handled complex intellectual property litigation and transactional work throughout the United States for over 25 years. He represents companies and individuals in a wide range of fields including, among others, consumer products, pet food, electro-mechanical machines, devices, and processes, software, business method patents, biotechnology, e-commerce, advertising, entertainment (music, video, films, endorsements), information and data providers, telecommunications, mechanical hardware, sporting goods, and games and recreational equipment.

Ben has been responsible for business litigation in courts throughout the United States for over 30 years. Much of his practice includes intellectual property lawsuits (patent; false advertising; trademark; unfair competition; copyright; trade secrets), and he maintains an active caseload in other areas of commercial (contract; business tort; antitrust) and white collar criminal litigation. In addition to courtroom and counseling work, Ben enjoys teaching and writing on trial advocacy, and as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers regularly serves as professor and demonstrator at the University of Missouri Law School’s Intercession Trial Practice program and several other trial-focused “how to” programs for practitioners. For years, he was designated lecturer on closing argument at the University of Virginia Trial Advocacy Institute, attended by practitioners from across the country and select law students.

Lindsay focuses her practice on trademark law, including all aspects of the development and protection of trademarks, service marks and trade dress. Lindsay counsels clients on the selection, use and registration of trademarks around the world. She represents clients in many inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She regularly works with counsel outside of the U.S. for trademark searches, registration, post-registration, due diligence and international inter partes proceedings. Lindsay devotes most of her efforts to the prosecution, maintenance and enforcement of trademarks in various industries, including, for example, providers of paper and stationary supplies, cinematography equipment, children’s toys, information technology, parks and recreational services, legal services, educational services, travel and tourism, medical and healthcare-related items, food and agriculture goods and services, among others. Her practice also involves copyright and domain name protection, due diligence for corporate transactional matters, and intellectual property litigation. Lindsay is an active Committee Member of the International Trademark Association, serving in volunteer roles for the U.S. Trademark Office Practice Committee and Commercialization of Brands Committee.
