Chen Appointed to ABA House of Delegates
Aug 07, 2020Phoenix Partner George Chen has been appointed by the State Bar of Arizona (SBA) to the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates. His three-year term on behalf of the SBA began Aug. 5.
The House of Delegates serves as the policy-making body of the ABA and is made up of nearly 600 members, two-thirds of whom represent state, local or special bars. The House of Delegates drafts, debates and votes on resolutions impacting the legal practice. Action taken by the House of Delegates on specific issues becomes official ABA policy.
Chen’s active intellectual property practice at BCLP encompasses litigation, licensing, counseling and prosecution of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, Internet, cybersquatting and other intellectual property matters. He partners with long-term clients to develop, protect, enforce, defend, license and commercialize intellectual property and other business assets.
Among his other leadership duties, Chen serves on the firmwide international Board at BCLP and is the leader of the Intellectual Property Practice for the firm's Phoenix office. He also has been an active leader in the ABA serving in many roles during his membership, including as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Membership (SCoM). In addition, he has deep involvement with the Arizona Asian American Bar Association and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and has served as president of both organizations.
