International law firm BCLP has been appointed to a new UK government trade law panel, following a highly competitive tender process led by the Crown Commercial Service.

With a budget of £115 million over the next four years, the panel will assist the UK government with post-Brexit international trade negotiations and disputes based on World Trade Organization rules. BCLP is one of only a handful of firms to be appointed in respect of both lots covered by the panel – the trade disputes and trade negotiations.

International Trade and Competition Law Partner Chris Bryant and Associates Doran Boyle and Nicholas Young led BCLP’s International Trade Team in the bid process, which got underway in January 2020.

Bryant said: “Our success in gaining a place on this prestigious panel demonstrates that BCLP’s first-rate International Trade Team is at the forefront of a rapidly growing area of law in the UK. We are delighted to have been appointed and look forward to working closely with the government at such a pivotal and historic moment.”

BCLP was supported in its bid by Canadian trade law boutique Conlin Bedard.
