International law firm BCLP advised Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) in connection with its proposed $2.47 billion fuel-free power plan to purchase three new wind farms and three new solar facilities, which would provide 995.5 megawatts of new, cost-effective renewable energy. The six projects, consisting of facilities in Texas and Kansas, were chosen through a competitive bidding process and are expected to be completed in 2025.

BCLP attorney Peter Hansen said “we are very pleased to have worked with PSO and AEP on such an important transaction for the companies in the advancement of their commitment to fuel-free power generation.”

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power (AEP), is an electric utility company serving more than 568,000 customer accounts in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma. Based in Tulsa, PSO has approximately 3,800 megawatts of diverse generating capacity that primarily includes wind and natural gas. It maintains and operates more than 24,000 miles of distribution lines and 3,700 miles of transmission lines and is one of the largest distributors of wind energy in the state.

BCLP’s deal team was led by Peter Hansen, Joe Dubinski, Vicki Westerhaus and Jim Pryde, BCLP’s real estate team was led by Puanani Norwood and Jennie Wynne, and BCLP’s tax team was led by Paul Smith and Chris Girouard.
