BCLP Partner Will Trotman and head of UK Real Estate Finance Naveen Vijh were quoted Sept. 21 by Law360 (subscription required) on career milestones and the firm’s continued growth in REF.

Will joined BCLP earlier this month and will work alongside the REF origination team, where he will advise clients on leveraged and structured financing, as well as other capital markets-based distribution and financing.

"There's a much broader scope of structured debt work and products in the real estate finance sphere," Will said.

Having a specialist in real estate structured debt is important for clients, who want to know they are dealing with law firms that have acted on market-leading deals in their sector, added Naveen.

“There are structured debt teams out there that do the same thing," Naveen said. “They do whatever work needs doing, but they do not focus exclusively on real estate as an asset class."

For Will, the decision to specialize in structured finance came early in his career, after spending time in the area as a trainee solicitor. His wide-ranging experience includes commercial mortgage-backed securities, trade receivables and supply chain finance.

"Real estate has always been front and center of what I have done.”
