BCLP supports Nike’s strategic European move to the UK’s mega shed in East Midlands
May 20, 2024International law firm BCLP has advised Nike on the pre-letting of a 1.3-million-square-foot logistics campus at Magna Park, Corby – one of the largest dedicated sites in the UK.
The state-of-the-art development will comprise Nike’s first UK distribution site and will create significant operational efficiencies, post-Brexit. As part of the “Golden Triangle”, the Midlands location provides the sportswear giant with greater access to carrier hubs and consumers across the UK market. As Nike aims to establish a principal hub for its UK supply chain, this marks a significant move towards achieving this goal.
The Project also aligns with Nike’s "Move to Zero" initiative, aiming for zero carbon and zero waste in both construction and operations. The new facility will be designed to meet the highest sustainability standards, targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating.
Marcus Pearl, Relationship Partner for Nike, noted: “This has been a herculean effort by BCLP’s Tier 1 Real Estate Team, and we were thrilled to have supported Nike in navigating through such an important milestone. We look forward to the next phase of this project and continuing to develop our relationship with Nike across our platform.”
The BCLP team was led by Partners Juliet Thomas and Alan Wight, assisted by Alex Berman, Mark Johnston, Kristiya Navushtanova, Gareth Stringer, Chris Skone James, Giles Pink, Victoria Blanchard, Megan Davies, Morgan James and Marisol Aspinell.
