International law firm BCLP advised Groupe Volta, an independent developer and producer of renewable energy, on the acquisition of three new wind farms in Western France, Brittany and Meuse, from IST, an independent Swiss investment foundation.

The acquisition of three wind farms completes Volta’s portfolio of projects in operation in the French regions, now with a combined capacity of over 100 MW. This transaction aligns with Volta's strategic plan to acquire regional wind projects that have been in operation for over 10 years and offer significant repowering potential in the long term.

To finance this strategic acquisition, Volta secured a €20 million financing line from Zencap Asset Management, a specialist in unlisted corporate debt and small & mid-cap assets, particularly in the sustainable and energy transition sector. This transaction demonstrates BCLP's ability to act on large-scale energy and environmental transition projects, and the synergy between its departments.

The BCLP team advised Groupe Volta on transactional, corporate and energy aspects. The team comprised of Partner Jean-Pierre Delvigne, Of Counsel Kai Völpel and Senior Associate Paul Ast.

Nabarro Béraud assisted the Volta Group with the financing aspects.
