BCLP strengthens real estate department with partner hire in Paris
Feb 14, 2025International law firm BCLP announced today that Jean-Louis Martin will join the Paris office as a partner in the Real Estate team. Recognized for his extensive experience in real estate transactions, Jean-Louis will further strengthen the market-leading team.
Jean-Louis’ practice focuses on real estate investments, including acquisitions, disposals, and managing assets and portfolios. He regularly advises on joint ventures and assists with complex contractual agreements between investors and real estate operators.
His clients include real estate investment funds, institutional investors, sovereign funds, and both French and international developers. He also regularly represents investors in bank financing transactions and supports businesses with leases, sale & lease back operations, and the construction of new sites.
Jean-Louis has built a strong profile within the real estate market with notable transactions such as the “Vesta” residential portfolio transaction on behalf of Swiss Life, the “Grand Frais” portfolio acquisition for La Française, the “Maison Bayard” building acquisition on behalf of CNP, the development of the “La Marseillaise” tower for Constructa, and the acquisition of the former Canal+ headquarters in Boulogne on behalf of Tishman Speyer.
In addition, Jean-Louis supports sports players in the negotiation of TV rights, marketing contracts, sponsorship contracts, as well as club acquisition operations. He draws from prior experience as the go-to advisor for the National Rugby League.

About Jean-Louis Martin – Partner
A lawyer since 1993, Jean-Louis holds a Master's degree in Business Law (University of Dijon, 1987), a DJCE-DESS in Business Law (University of Montpellier, 1988) and a LL.M. (Columbia University, 1994).
Jean-Louis Martin began his career at Debevoise & Plimpton in 1993, then joined Jones Day in 2004 where he headed the real estate practice for eleven years. Before joining BCLP, he was head of the real estate department of Paul Hastings (2015-2024) and Vice-chair of the Paris office since 2018.
