Shivani joins the firm from Fieldfisher, where she was a partner and headed the India practice group. Shivani is dual qualified as a solicitor advocate in England & Wales and as an advocate in India. She brings extensive experience advising on and strategically resolving complex, high-value, multi-stakeholder and cross-border disputes, particularly international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. Shivani has represented clients in high profile litigations before the English courts including the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the UK Supreme Court. She also acts for clients in complex high-stake arbitrations under the rules of various arbitration institutions such as the ICC, LCIA, SIAC and PCA in venues around the world. Her clients include corporates and high-net worth individuals in a variety of sectors including construction, media, hotels, energy, mining, telecoms, banking and technology, and she has recently acted for leading Indian conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji, Indian investors Madhu & Gokul Binani and directors in leading electricity company KES Power. Shivani has significant experience in emergency arbitrations and in matters involving fraud, conspiracy and worldwide freezing injunctions.

Prior to joining the partnership at Fieldfisher, Shivani began her legal career practicing as an advocate in Delhi, India in 2009 at Sanghi & Co, a specialist disputes firm, where she advised Indian corporates on a wide range of cross-border disputes, multi-party arbitrations, anti-suit injunctions, challenges to foreign arbitral awards and other matters of private international law. During her time in India, she also appeared as an advocate before the Delhi High Court and the Indian Supreme Court. After moving to London in 2010, Shivani practiced at legacy firm SJ Berwin as well as Fried Frank and Covington & Burling.

Shivani Sanghi, incoming Business and Commercial Disputes Partner, said: “I’m thrilled to join BCLP’s dynamic disputes practice. The firm’s stellar reputation, large international footprint across America, Asia, Middle East and Europe, as well as the firm’s collaborative and supportive culture, strongly appeals to me. I see great opportunity in joining BCLP’s disputes practice, and in particular growing its India Practice Group and working with colleagues across diverse jurisdictions and sectors.”
