Summary

International law firm BCLP is growing its Litigation & Investigations Practice with the appointment of Ravi Nayer as partner in the Business & Commercial Disputes Team.  He joins from Quinn Emanuel and will be based in the London office.

This appointment comes as the firm builds on the breadth, strength and capabilities of the team to meet the growing needs and demands of clients in the Litigation & Investigations space.

Ravi is an experienced commercial litigation and class actions lawyer focused on business critical litigation particularly in insurance, data, pension and asset management-related financial services disputes.  He has also advised clients on the design and implementation of private-sector compensation schemes (redress schemes) in the UK arising from alleged mass torts and has created joint defence and novel litigation cooperation agreements for peer institutions in some of the UK’s largest class actions, including the RBS Rights Issue litigation.

During his career Ravi was seconded to one of the UK’s largest FTSE 100 asset managers and insurers as its global head of disputes which gave him insight into the challenges of bringing and defending proceedings as in-house counsel. His experience stretches across a wide range of jurisdictions including the Caribbean, the US, India and North Africa.

Ravi is a champion of diversity in the workplace, was the Chair of the Board of London’s largest mental health charity, interned at the Runnymede Trust (the UK’s leading race equality think tank) and is currently Chair of the children’s charity Barnardo’s inaugural minority ethnic engagement committee.

Graham Shear, partner and European Leader, Litigation & Investigations said: “Our contentious business in London is a large and extremely busy group and we are delighted to welcome Ravi to our growing team. Ravi has demonstrated that he is a litigation innovator in several areas including class actions and the resolution of mass torts. His addition to our London team helps us to respond to the wide scope of disputes now being seen and provides an added dimension to our capability.”

Ravi added: “I’m excited to be joining the Business & Commercial Disputes Team at BCLP – it’s a hugely exciting time in the department’s growth and evolution and I’m looking forward to working alongside colleagues both in the UK and internationally to deliver outstanding legal advice and solutions to clients. In particular, I am keen to further strengthen the firm’s institutional relationships across its core sectors by adding to its litigation offering. I have been truly bowled over by the deep commitment to championing talent and diversity at all levels, and can’t wait to get started.”
