BCLP Partner Dan Rockey, co-leader of Data Privacy, Telecommunications & Collections, was quoted Sept. 16 by Global Data Review (subscription required) on the United States District Court for the Southern District of California ruling that Neighborhood Healthcare is immune from suit in a putative class action alleging violations of California’s Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA). Dan noted the case will have a wide impact. “This decision holds that the US government must assume any liability for a data breach and therefore frees health centers to focus on patient care,” he said.
