BCLP Partner Puanani Norwood was interviewed by Law.com in a ‘How I Made Partner’ segment, detailing her remarkable nine-year journey to partnership.

Before embarking on her legal career, Puanani spent nearly ten years at Shook, Hardy & Bacon in various positions, including as a diversity coordinator. It was during this time that her interest in law was propelled by the mentorship of her then colleagues who supported her through law school and into her role at BCLP.

While studying at the University of Missouri Kansas City’s law program, Puanani was particularly drawn to BCLP by the firm’s genuine sense of community and mutual respect among colleagues. “In the office, lawyers and staff easily interacted and partners came to my office to discuss deal strategy and ask for my opinions,” she shared. “I thought I could be surrounded by trusted advisers to help me find my way to build a practice of my own.”

Today, Puanani not only co-leads the firm’s Infrastructure Subsector but also serves as the Office Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office, continuing to foster the collegiality that initially drew her to BCLP.
