BCLP litigation team recognized with Top Defense Verdict by ‘Missouri Lawyers Weekly’

A BCLP litigation team received recognition for the No. 1 Top Defense Verdict in 2022, as named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.

The BCLP team included Partners Tim Hasken and Randy Soriano and Associates Sam Hofmeier and Lauren Simon. The firm was legal issues and appellate preservation counsel on the case Shelton v. Monsanto Company, in which a Jackson County jury found the herbicide Roundup wasn’t responsible for causing a man’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Missouri Lawyers Media will honor the attorneys in the cases at the 2023 Missouri Lawyers Awards, scheduled for Feb. 9.

Tim focuses his trial and appellate practice at BCLP on product liability, mass tort, and consumer class action defense. He serves as co-leader of the firm's Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Class Action and Mass Tort Team. He has defended leading pharmaceutical, agricultural, automotive, medical device and consumer product manufacturers in many of the country’s most challenging venues.

Randy’s litigation and trial practice focuses on complex contested matters in the areas of products liability, intellectual property, commercial litigation, toxic tort and class actions. He serves as co-leader of the firm's Mass Torts & Product Liability Team. His practice includes first chair trial experience with mass torts, multidistrict litigation, and the representation of corporate clients in products liability claims alleging personal injury and wrongful death in courts throughout the country. He has represented national pharmaceutical clients in mass tort defense including the coordination and management of hundreds of lawsuits.

Sam focuses his trial and appellate practice on product liability, mass tort and class action defense. He assists clients through all phases of litigation, with an emphasis on legal strategy, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals. Sam has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country, including in multidistrict litigation. He also has experience briefing and arguing cases in multiple state and federal appellate courts.

Lauren is a member of the firm’s Class Actions, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, and Mass Torts & Products Liability Practice Groups. She focuses her practice on complex product liability, mass tort, commercial litigation and appellate matters. She has experience representing businesses and other large entities in high-stakes mass tort and collegiate sports litigation.
