BCLP has officially launched the South Asians in Law (SAIL) Network, a collaborative and supportive space where our South Asian employees of all seniorities and roles can connect. The group aims to tackle the lack of South Asian representation in the legal profession by strengthening, advancing, illuminating and leading the South Asian legal community. The network’s ambassadors include Partners Jinal Shah, Mateen Khan and Taslima Salam, with Sheena Teli from Marketing & Business Development.

The SAIL Network hosted its first internal networking event on Nov. 22. President of the SAIL Network, Trainee Solicitor Rhea Ava Patel, delivered a presentation followed by speeches from the ambassadors. The successful evening celebrated the diversity of South Asian heritage through discussion, food and music.

A display earlier this month of inspirational South Asian lawyers who have lit up the legal industry was also organized by the SAIL Network to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. The SAIL Network looks forward to following in these leaders’ footsteps and continuing its mission of encouraging South Asians to break down barriers in the legal profession.
