International law firm BCLP today announces the roll-out and implementation of a generative AI (GenAI) lease reporting tool with proptech innovator Orbital Witness.

A significant step in their strategic partnership, the roll-out follows an intensive, two-month design collaboration, during which BCLP and Orbital Witness successfully developed a customised GenAI lease reporting solution: BCLP FLARE (Fast Lease Assisted Reporting). The tool is powered by Orbital Witness’ latest product, Orbital Copilot, the only legal AI assistant purpose built for property diligence.

BCLP and Orbital Witness established a design partnership at the end of 2023 with a strategic vision of using best-in-class technology to revolutionise commercial lease reporting. BCLP’s commitment to generating efficiencies and delivering high-quality advice aligns with Orbital Witness’ goal of combining cutting edge AI with real estate expertise, enabling businesses to complete due diligence and report on property in minutes, not weeks.

The collaboration involved BCLP lawyers working closely with legal engineers, data scientists and software engineers from Orbital Witness to pilot Orbital Copilot and develop a GenAI-generated lease report in BCLP’s house style. BCLP’s lawyers found that the time spent on manual diligence processes were significantly reduced, allowing for more in-depth analysis.

BCLP UK Real Estate Practice Group Lead Samant Narula said, “The real estate sector demands short timescales for deals, making effective time use crucial. As a firm, we look at AI practically and in a way that can bring true client impact. BCLP FLARE allows for more efficient document review and data extraction, allowing our lawyers to dedicate more time to in-depth analysis. Our collaboration with Orbital Witness is a tangible example of GenAI working hand in hand with our lawyers, part of our strategy to invest strategically in tools that drive efficiencies and demonstrate our 'client intelligent' approach. The positive feedback and tangible time savings observed during the development phase reaffirm the tool’s commercial potential and merit further investment.”

Co-founder and CSO of Orbital Witness, Edmond Boulle, said, “We’re delighted at the positive response of BCLP’s real estate team to Orbital Copilot. BCLP shares our conviction in domain specific, use case specific targeted applications for AI. It’s brilliant to see the benefits to their real estate team come to life through BCLP FLARE, providing the time optimisations to their work which are in turn enabling them to focus on providing world class service and advice to their clients.”

BCLP and Orbital Witness are working together to roll out BCLP FLARE and Orbital Copilot across BCLP’s UK and US offices, with a focus on delivering measurable client value.
