BCLP Contributes to Lexology Panoramic: Saudi Arabia Construction Chapter
Jul 25, 2024International contractors are increasingly focusing on Saudi Arabia’s construction sector, which plays a pivotal role in implementing Vision 2030 to transform the Kingdom into a financial, manufacturing, and tourist powerhouse. However, setting up operations in Saudi Arabia presents challenges, particularly due to the rapid modernization of laws and regulations affecting the construction industry. Notably, the Civil Transactions Law, which codifies relevant Sharia law principles, came into force on 16 December 2023 and sets out key rights and obligations relevant to parties to a construction contract.
BCLP’s Middle East Construction & Engineering Team, in collaboration with Lexology Panoramic, take a deep dive into the recent changes to the laws and regulations relevant to international contractors setting-up shop in Saudi Arabia and carrying out construction activities. The team considers key regulations, insurance requirements, labour rights, payment terms and dispute resolution (see our article on arbitration in Saudi Arabia).
The Lexology Panoramic series compares and contrasts the laws and regulations relevant to international contractors & engineers operating in different jurisdictions.
