BCLP has announced an immediate change to knowledge lawyers’ titles across the firm.

Traditionally, the practice-group embedded lawyers were known as Knowledge Development Lawyers (KDLs). To bring titles in line with market reference, however, the below changes have been made. The decision is also a move to make the role more recognizable within the global firm.

The following changes have taken place globally:

  • KDLs are now known as Knowledge Lawyers;
  • Principal KDLs are now titled Senior Knowledge Lawyers;
  • The position of Associate Director KDL is now known as Knowledge Counsel; and
  • The most senior Associated Director KDLs have been retitled to Lead Knowledge Counsel.

Chief Knowledge Officer Judy Mackenzie Stuart said of the changes: “Not only are the new titles better aligned with market, they also give our Knowledge Lawyers greater opportunity for career progression, and help to recognize the valuable contributions they make to our firm on a daily basis.”
