BCLP appoints Laura Giokas as firm’s Global General Counsel
Aug 12, 2024International law firm BCLP (Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Giokas as its Global General Counsel. Laura will oversee all legal matters for the firm, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance with global regulations and risk management policies.
This newly created role is designed to continue the global harmonization of BCLP’s departments and promote a collaborative and unified approach for the benefit of all international stakeholders.
Laura has spent her career with BCLP, beginning in 2002 as a Summer Associate in the St. Louis office. Her legal practice involved representing corporate clients in products liability defense, general commercial litigation, and employment litigation and advice. She also defended leading financial institutions against individual claims for violation of federal and state lending laws, mortgage servicing claims, and consumer protection and unfair competition claims.
Among her other roles at BCLP, Laura was made Conflicts and Ethics Counsel in 2008; Assistant General Counsel in 2011; General Counsel in 2016; and since 2018, has served as Partner and General Counsel-Americas at BCLP.
