BCLP advises Idex and Guyot on €70M investment in local, low-carbon energy plant
Mar 24, 2025BCLP advised Idex and Guyot Energies on the financing of their €70 million investment in a local, low-carbon industrial boiler plant to supply Bunge's Brest plant.
Idex, a specialist in local, low-carbon energy infrastructures, and Guyot Energies, an independent producer of wood and biomass, have partnered to develop an energy production plant at Guyot environnement's historic site in the heart of Brest's commercial port.
This project will produce energy from solid recovered fuels (SRF) from Brittany and supply steam directly to Bunge's industrial plant, covering a large part of its energy needs.
The cogeneration unit will produce around 85 GWh of heat and 20 GWh of electricity per year. The contract to supply local, low-carbon energy will enable the Bunge site to reduce its dependence on natural gas, thereby reinforcing the efficient management of its energy costs and helping to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Each year, the new unit will recover 40,000 tonnes of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) produced at the Guyot environnement Morlaix and Guyot environnement Brest sites from non-recyclable waste (plastics, paper, cardboard, soiled textiles, etc.). Mainly from Guyot environnement's regional waste collection operations, this waste, previously destined for landfill, will now be used as an energy resource.
The project, carried out by Polder Guyot Energies (owned 51% by Idex and 49% by Guyot Energies), represents an investment of €70 million, including €14.5 million in funding from ADEME.
Bank financing for the operation was arranged by Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels, also agent, Bpifrance and Banque Populaire Grand Ouest (BPGO).
The BCLP team comprised Partner and co-head of the Energy Transition sector David Blondel and senior associate Charles Sechao on financing aspects.
