BCLP advised RGREEN Invest in raising €87 million for Smart Energies

BCLP advised RGREEN Invest, an independent French asset management company specializing in the financing of the energy and climate transition, in the capital increase of Smart Energies, a major player in rooftop solar power generation in France, underwritten by Plenium Partners and SWEN Capital Partners.

Smart Energies secured $87 million in a financing round from new investors Plenium Partners and SWEN Capital Partners. BCLP previously advised the RGREEN Invest fund on this new transaction two years after its initial €20 million investment in Smart Energies. Since then, Smart Energies has expanded across Europe, developing new activities including battery storage.

Smart Energies specializes in medium-sized photovoltaic projects. It owns and operates over 500 solar sites in Europe, with capacity of over 160 MWp in operation or under construction.

With new funding, Smart Energies intends to continue its expansion, particularly in Greece and the Nordic countries.

The BCLP team comprised of Partner Jean-Pierre Delvigne, Of Counsel Kai Völpel and Senior Associate Paul Ast, who advised RGREEN Invest on the corporate, financing and energy aspects of the deal.
